weekend links: I’ll take a nap now

Right now I’m wearing the 5 layers of clothing I usually keep for the coldest of winter days. However, since our fall only lasted two weeks and suddenly turned into winter I’m having a hard time adjusting and am therefore in full on polar bear mode. Thinking about that, I might actually take a nap.   I can’t though. Apparently, my kid needs to learn how to swim so I have to take him to swimming lessons. Just kidding of course. I love spending my afternoon in the hot humidity of the swimming pool, cheering for my 5 year-old in the water...

the best part about failure

the best part about failure

I love failures. My life is full of it, so I kinda have to. The best part about failures is that you can start again. Nothing better than starting over, right? Starting over with more knowledge, wisdom or strength or resilience… ultimately, failures will do you good. After the failing part of it, of course. Maybe this is why I keep coming back to this blog. While I feel that I’ve failed at blogging many times now, I keep coming back to it… and it teaches me something new every time I start over. And I’m inspired to do new...

home is better with you

I will not sell my soul to review your product

I wonder about life everyday. About my life in particular. I question my thoughts and actions, and mostly I question the decisions I’ve made. I will jump in head-first, often only to run away once I realize what I’ve committed to. This was actually my biggest fear when I was pregnant with our first child… that I would question the decision and would want to run away forever. Thankfully, that did not happen, though I have at times wondered what my life would’ve looked like had I not had kids. My internal dialogue is ever present in my day to...

the no shampoo experiment

Every now and then, there’s a new thing that all of a sudden just seems to be everywhere. Think of oil pulling or the oil cleansing method, both of which I tried. The oil pulling hasn’t stayed with me (yuck!) but the oil cleansing method has become a favorite way of cleaning my face. So I wanted to try this new method to see if it really meant my hair would be healthier and if maybe I could do with even less bottles in my bathroom. In my dreams, I have just one bottle for everything. Sadly, following the ‘no poo method’...

weekend links

Mamamaandag has turned into weekend links! Here are some of my favorites… enjoy! It never even crossed my mind, but did you know there are hardly any stock photos that portray women in business? This is so cool. Science is for everyone. The 32-hour workweek is being (re)discovered. I’m finally reading this. 5 essential Photohop tools for bloggers. Ever heard of the Rock ’n Roll Bride? Totally awesome. Can we just, like, get over the way women talk? (Loved this!) Our push bike seems beyond repair and we’ve been looking for a new one. I’ll be ordering some prints from Profotonet again...
